Question I'm going to put a Samarium Cobalt pickup into my American ash tele. The existing pickups are American vintage and are stock.
I'm using a 5 position selector switch and I need a wiring diagram to make this change. I think the nashville tele wiring diagram will work but I'm not sure about the wiring on the samarium pickup. There is a black, yellow and green wire on the new pickup. Do you know if this will work? Do I need to put a special volume pot in or can I use a spot on the 5 way switch to select the change.
Answer Bob: I don't think you'll need a special volume pot, or a different type of wiring, unless you should simply choose to change the way your guitar is wired for your own preference. Push/pull pots and toggle switches of various sizes are common alternatives to the standard, Strat-style 5-way. You can contact Bill Lawrence for any technical questions from this link: http://www.billlawrence.com/
Bill and his staff are awesome; they can get you exactly what you need to know in the way of wiring. You can also find custom wiring diagrams here: http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/.wiringresources/
