Electric Guitars - poor volume control on my stratocaster
Expert: Kevin Chisholm - American Guitarist - 11/7/2009
Question hello, I just replace all of the electronics on my strat. I pulled the old pick guard out ,and replaced with a completely new everything. This newly wire pick guard was done by myself and wired exactly the way the old one was. everything is working with exception to the volume knob. there is very little change in volume from 1 to 10. the guitar set on 10 sound like i would expect. when the volume is set on one there is almost no decrease is volume. any adivce
Answer Hi Andy,
Thanks for your question. The best way to approach this is to isolate the problem. The issue is either with your wiring or the volume pot. I suggest you replace the volume pot first. It everything works, then you had a bad pot. If you still have the same problem, try removing each component from the signal path one-one, until you find the culprit; it's in there, you just have to isolate each component until you find it.
I hope this was helpful. Please feel free to follow-up if there are any other questions you may have. Good Luck!
Best Wishes,
Kevin Chisholm
