Question
QUESTION: A lot of E.L.O songs are about relationships are the lyrics
based on true past experiences, and can you tell me where Groos in the song don't bring me down comes from and means.

ANSWER: Hello,

In a few interviews Jeff Said that the word "Gross" was just made up to fill the space and did not mean anything.

Take care.

QUESTION: Can you please tell me if the lyrics of past E.L.O. songs are based  on true past experiences.
         Many thanks
ANSWER: Hello,

No one knows that answer for sure, but Jeff. And He's not talking about it. Every time Jeff is asked that question he skirts the issue and says, "the meaning is whatever you want it to be." Or something like that.

What I can say for sure is the way Jeff makes a song. Many interviews and information sources say that Jeff does the lyrics last, and is usually veery fast with them. He basically has the complete song done minus the lyrics and then he puts thouse in quick. I have heard he has made complete changes to lyrics and song titles at the last moment. A lot of the re-issue tracks show that very clearly.

I hope this helps,

QUESTION: Is there any chance that Jeff would write a book about his life, and if so would he do any book signings .

Answer
Hello again,

That is an excellent idea. I hope someone close to Jeff gives him the idea. I am sure he will eventually do it. He has a lot of life stories to tell and has hung out with the best of the best in music.

In the mean time there is a really good book available that outlines the ELO story up to 1980. It was written by Bev Bevan the drummer and is about all of ELO. Its called "The Electric Light Orchestra Story" Published by Mushrom Publishing in 1980. Its long out of print but copies can be found at ebay and amazon.

There are other books and information out there as well if you look for them.

Take care,

Christopher...
