Subject: ge fan motor

Question
I was wondering if you could tell me if I can replace this GE fan motor, 5kcp39f9048et, with the same or is there an updated number. It's out of a 20 year old air conditioner and I can't seem to find any information on that particular model number. Thanks, Al

Answer

Ge sold the small motor division some time back and has little information on just model numbers, you can find something to replace it, but how is the problem,

If you have a local motor shop who will mess with something this small, [many just can't afford to go through all the matching and then charge you for time as it is more than the motor]

but some smaller shops do still exist, if so they should be able to match it to some brand,

Is it a double shafted double caged fan on each end, cap run motor?

Fasco sells many [generic] window fan motors with three feet long shafts and you have to cut them to length, [start up motor and with a hack saw carefully nip them off]

or go to emotorstore.com

go to jenkins electric motors .com

go to electric motor warehouse .com

between all of those someone should be able to match up a motor for you.

go to ebay and be damn careful, search for the frame and ge motor, see if anyone has one for sale on there be careful be careful  but somtimes it does work out, then if worse comes to worse, you can mail it to me and I will find your motor.

But then you have mailing charges and as long as I don't have to spend too much time I won't charge but a minimal charge,

But try the others first and let me know

Will
