Similar situation, I have a Sanborn compressor with the Century 8-158945-20 motor that can be wired for 220 or 110.  Moved to new house, no 220 outlet in garage so I brought it to Home Depot and they rewired it to 110 ... I didn't realize that this pulls 26 amps so it still requires special wiring/socket.

QUESTION:  Can I buy a transformer or some other device to convert either a 110v/20amp to 110v/30amp ... OR ... 110v (single phase) to 220v (two phase)?
