Question
I have an electric wheel chair that uses two 12 volt batteries with each having a 35AH rating.  My batteries are no good and I cannot find suitable replacements over here in the Philippines.  I am thinking about using  2 motorcycle batteries to power this chair.  Can you tell me what is the lowest Ampere Rating  needed to power this chair?  Thank you in advance for your help and expertise.

Answer
You can use even 1/2 of the amp hr.
What this means is the actual rating of the battery and how long the charge will last under load.
eg 35Ahr means at a constant load of 35 amps, the battery charge will last 1 hour, before chrging it up.
If you replace with a 12 AHr batteru, under the same load, the charge will only last 20.5 mins.
