Question what is 115 Vlotage? I know that this is a very basic question, but I am trying to get a window air conditioning unit for my home and it says 115V, I understand 220 for aircondtioning and know it had special plug =| kinda of, please help mje as you have probable guessed, I know knowthing about electriciyt, this is an older home and it is already 90%. I appreciate you answering this question for me. Jo McBrien
Answer Jo,
The vast majority of homes have two voltages available in their circuit breaker or fuse boxes and its usually 120 / 240 volts. The voltage may not be exactly those numbers but some where in a range of approx 110 to 125 volts and 230 to 250 volts with 120 / 240 being the norm. There are factors which can contribute to it being more or less than that. They make air conditioners that operate on 120 or 240 volts. The air conditioner your looking at that says 115 volts will work just fine in your home provided the circuit you plug it into is either a dedicated line just for that air conditioner or its a circuit that can handle the
air conditioner in addition to whats already on that circuit.
