Question
i am sorry i did forget to ask my question, if a breaker is being used to control the dimmer on and off and the dimmer is rated at 600 watts, the lights all together are 900 watts, will this cause the breaker to buzz and why

Answer
Brian,

900 watts is a fairly sizable load on a 15 or 20 amp circuit and occasionally a breaker will make a buzzing sound when the load is first turned on or in this case a steady buzzing sound. If you tapped the breaker it might stop or there is just something inside the beaker thats
making it do it. It doesn't mean the breaker won't work right it just means its making a noise basically. If the sound is annoying or you think the breaker should be changed as a preemptive measure then it certainly does no harm to do that.
