Above are the details on a small hydraulic pack which is used to
raise and lower paper rolls on a Webtron printing press.
The motor has six yellow and two green wires.Three yellow wires marked 2,4,8 are in one terminal, the other three marked 1,3,5, are in another terminal, and the two green together in a third terminal.A capacitor is mounted on top of the motor and appears to be wired internally.
The control circuit consists of a neutral,115v from a raise relay, and 115v from a lower relay.
Someone had been messing about with the wiring before I was called to the problem. The neutral was connected to one set of yellow wires, the raise relay output to the other yellow wires, and the lower relay output in a spare terminal.
Logic would suggest that the neutral goes to the green wires and raise/lower go to each set of yellow wires respectfully. However the motor has a direction arrow on it !.Is this type of motor/hydraulic system reversible ?.
Any information on this motor would be much appreciated.
Thank you .David Johnson
Answer All pumps both liquid and hydraulic that I have worked on are set in one direction. If this motor were meant to be reversed, the T5 and T8 would not be connected to the terminals along with the main windings, as they are interchanged to reverse the motor. As for the neutral, it has to be connected to the lines of the motor. As for the wiring of the relays, that is beyond me.
This company, http://www.haldex.com/hbus bought the Barnes company. They may be able to supply more information on the system.
