Question
hi-can you please tell me what is an "ohm ring"? thanks cleggsan!

Answer
I have no idea. Perhaps you are referring to a slip ring; these are used in motors and generators to make contact with a brush to provide a current path for the windings on the armature.  The ring and brush have a resistance based on the contact geometry of the brush, its material and how well it makes contact to the ring.

Let me know if we are on the right track.

PS:  The URL below shows how a slip ring is used for making contact with the armature windings.
