Electrical Engineering - 4-20 mA signal conditioning

Expert: Dave Nyce - 8/1/2008

Question
I have a level sensor factory scaled for 0-10 psi. I actually need a range of 5-6 psi. Is there a signal conditioner/adapter that can convert the wide range to my tighter range, and output that as 4-20mA?

Answer
The closest thing I know of is the Transpak by Action Instruments.  It has up to 80% turndown, which means that you could have a 2 psi span (such as 5-7 psi).  If you contact Action Instruments with your requirement, maybe they can supply a signal conditioner that will handle your desired range.

Hope this helps!

Dave
