Question
I'm trying to see how many watts my computer takes and I need help.      My computer is a desktop Acer, the moniter takes 60/50Hz and the Ampage is 1.5, then the tower takes 60/50Hz, and the Ampage is 3.15, what would the wattage be for both of them together thanks very much if you answer

Answer
If it is a desktop PC I assume you are running it off the 120v ac line.  Correct?

Power =  Voltage X  Current.

Therefore, if the current really is 1.5A for the monitor it would consume 180 watts.
If the tower consumes 3.15A the power consumption would be 378 watts.
The total power would = 180 + 378 = 558 watts.

That sounds about right.  However, if you obtained those current number off the label or spec sheet that would be the nominal rating by the manufacturer. The actual, if measured, would probably be less than that amount as the actual varies according to the settings and other conditions.  You can imagine the monitor may draw more current when the brightness of the screen is turned to max than when it is set at a lower level.  And, with the tower it will consume more power when the fan is blowing and the drives are running.

But, the figures above are pretty good guesstimates.

Let me know if you need more.
