Electrical Engineering - laptop charger

Question
good day sir,sir i am working on a laptop charger that will get charged through a cigarette lighter from a 12v dc battery in a car.sir,i am using a 555 timer in conjunction with a voltage doubler but my output current is very low.what can i do sir to increase the current output.
thank you sir.

Answer
Well, if the design is correct and working like a battery charger should, to get more current you must either increase the voltage or lower the impedance of the load.

In a typical 555 design there is a place to adjust the voltage; if you are using a zener as a reference, it should be increased. If you are using a current sampling resistor for current setting then it will need to be altered.

Does this help?  Let me know if there are further question.
