Scenario

Will there be Locomotive Derailment if the motorman applies sudden brakes when the Locomotive was running at 300 Km/hr and above speed ?.

ANSWER: An interesting question but there are so many variable issues it would be difficult if not irresponsible to pose an answer.

The variables are such as:  Wind speed and direction at the time of breaking, center of gravity of the locomotive, load behind the locomotive,  pitch angle of the tracks, nearby geology, braking system deployment, condition of the tracks,  etc. etc.

There are high speed trains evolving currently that will approach or exceed the 300 mph limit so your question is timely but safety and public/government requirements may be an essential ingredient while determining the robust quality of a design.
