Electrical Engineering/Email Address Validation.

QUESTION: Dear Prof Cleggsan

Will the following email addresses will be accepted and
validated by the respective email servers ?.

i.e. The User Name and Domain Name is the same.

In case any User is trying to create such email addresses, will
they be allowed to be created ?.

If yes i.e. these email addresses can be created, do you feel
this should not be allowed by respective email servers ?.

Awaiting your reply,

Thanks & Regards,

ANSWER: I don't exactly understand your question.

But, if you are wanting to create an email you have many choices.  If you wish to create your own domain such as you@prashant.com you must register that domain and you can then create server account.  If you want to take the easy way and use popular domains such as @gmail, @yahoo, @hotmail, etc. you can sign up and create an email box in a matter of minutes.

Hope this helps.

PS: There are many providers that will establish a domain name/account for you. Here is an example:

QUESTION: Dear Prof Cleggsan

Thank you.

I am taking the examples where email address is the format

For example : domain name = gmail.com, user name =gmail.com

i.e. some user tries to create such a email address.

Will the gmail email server accept these email address ?

Awaiting your reply,

Thanks & Regards,

Yes, standardization of the protocols for email are used by most if not all domain servers.  Commercial email domains such as gmail, hotmail, aol, mail, msn, juno and others will accept an email coming from any other domain.  However, it will reject it and return it to the sender if it does not recognize the unique name.

However, domain name in the personal side of the @domain.com will not go through.
