Electrical Engineering/Two Wheeler Motorcycle Training Schools.

QUESTION: Dear Prof Cleggsan‎

We see very few (Hardly) Two Wheeler viz Motorcycles, Bikes, Scooters etc Training Schools as compared to many 4 wheeler viz Cars, Jeeps, Trucks, Buses etc Motor training schools.

What could be the primary reason for this ?.

Do you feel the Two Wheeler Motorcycle Training School Business
will not flourish as compared to 4 Wheeler Motorcycle Training Schools ?.

Awaiting your reply,

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

ANSWER: In under developed countries where 2-wheelers are very popular they cannot afford to pay for a training school. Furthermore, in those countries, due to the popularity of the 2-wheelers, there are neighbors, friends and family members who give the learner all the advice needed.

In developed countries the 2-wheelers are more of a hobby or second or third vehicle for transportation.  Thus, the user does not see the need or demand so much. However, in America and Europe where 2-wheelers are used in competition and serious recreation there are some schools that assist them.  Example is bicycle racing where special techniques are needed to win a race. Furthermore, special high speed bikes are used which have unique requirements needing some training and experience.

Lastly, the variety of 2-wheeler vehicles is so great the differentiation of training methods and tools are too diverse, perhaps.

That is my opinion for now.

QUESTION: Dear Prof Cleggsan

Thank you.

Do you feel the Key element for success to this Business would be keeping different varieties of the Motorcycles viz Honda, TVS Scooty, Bajaj Pulsar, Enfield Bullet etc

i.e. Different Motorcycles Models from Different Manufacturers viz scooter, bike, luna, mopet etc which will offer a variety to the consumers who would like to learn 2- wheelers ?.

The Training cost will vary from vehicle to vehicle a consumer would like to learn a 2 wheeler.

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

Well not only are there great differences between various 2 wheeled vehicle but substantial variation between vehicles of the same kind and even from the same manufacturers where the features and operating processes differ.  For example, a bicycle may have totally different types of gear shifting apparatus one from another.

And mopeds vary considerably in their driving methods...  A uniform school or training class may be quite difficult to establish on a profitable basis.  At least so here in my country.

A solution may be producing a series of youtube training videos that the new owner of a 2 wheeled vehicle may refer to.

Hope this helps.
