Question
Dear Prof Cleggsan

Do you feel Electronic safe deposit locker
should be preferred over mechanical safe deposit locker in Banks?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
In my engineering career I have not been exposed to bank vault security. Therefore, I have no expert opinion about the matter.

You can find many articles on google about the subject as there are many approaches used by banks.  The above link is just one example where either mechanical, electronic and/or cloud based encryption based security is offered to the bank.

Some electronic options probably appeal to bank managers because it gives ability to keep tabulation on entry records for dates, persons entering, etc.

That is all the opinion I will offer at this time.
