Question
Dear Prof Cleggsan

Is it possible to design portable Electric hot plate for cooking which are battery operated?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
It is not a great idea.

The heating elements of cooking plates consume a great amount of electrical power.

Most hot plates require 750w or 1500w of power to bring the temperature up to heating and cooking levels.

A 6volt battery must produce 250 amperes to produce 1500w! You would need more than one car battery to run the plate long enough to cook anything.

Sorry.  Not a great idea.
