Question
Dear Prof Cleggsan

Can there be advantages in interfacing CNC machines with Smartphone and Tablet devices Wired or Wireless?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
Yes, I suppose size and cost. Since most CNC devices are driven by a full PC or even larger computer, it could be a big cost savings to connect the NC device to a low cost tablet or smartphone.

The above example is just one solution for connecting the NC to an Android tablet.

And, there is  one (and maybe more solutions) shown below for a complete dedicated NC using smartphone connection:

Other examples are found in the web with a google search.

Interesting subject, sir.
