Question
Dear Prof Cleggsan

Can there be design and construction challenges in traffic signals installation in Tunnels?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
Yes, of course they can be difficult.
Mostly they are connected via wires or cable from the outside world. In some tunnels radio links are used.
I base my reply on personal observation and previous readings.
However, in many cases the traffic signals are placed at the entrance or end of the tunnel rather than inside.

I suppose it depends on the length of the tunnel and traffic conditions.
