Electrical Engineering/Tea and Coffee vending machines.

Dear Prof Cleggsan

Is it possible to design tea and coffee vending machines operated also on Batteries?.

Yes, of course it is possible to design such a vending machine.

However, it would be very costly and impractical. Why?  Because the electrical power requirements would be enormous and the batteries would either need to be extra huge or be recharged frequently.  The power requirements for heating the cup of liquid are quite high.

Link below is a little discussion on the amount of power needed to heat up a mug of water, tea or coffee that will give you some idea of the power requirements:

Hope this helps.
