Question
Dear Prof Cleggsan

Can Supermarkets business be successful in Rural areas?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
This is a marketing question, not an engineering question.

But, I do have some experience in this area.  A supermarket by definition requires a very large inventory and high sales turnover with very low profit margin per item.  Rural areas do not generally have a large enough customer base to justify the large investment in facilities and inventory to become profitable.

That is my opinion.
