Electrical Engineering - DC to AC Inverters

Expert: John F. Iannuzzi - 8/3/2007

Question
I want to get an inverter to run off of the cigarette lighter of my SUV for tailgating.  I would like to run a 20" tv off of it.  When I see these devices there are some that convert to 120 and some to 220.  Which would you recommend?  Thanks, Sam

Answer
Sam,
If you are in the United States, we run of of 120 VAC.  So all of the equipment is designed for this voltage.  Just keep in mind the power requirements.  Speak to one of the customer service reps when you go to look at converters.  They should be able to help you size it for enough power.
John
