Question
Dear all
For UPS normally we are using Lead acid/Nicad or VRLA battery.Could you exolain the VRLA?
And what can cause the battey to premature failure?

Answer
Valve Regulated Lead Acid batteries are designed for rugged, compact use.  They use tougher materials to encase the fluids and structure to accommodate deeper overcharging, etc.

The above site gives a good explanation of this design feature.

Premature failure could from overcharging, from a defective cell, any number of malfunctions or charging cycles.

At the bottom of the page above, there are some links with additional - and excellent - information that will give you a tutorial on these batteries and their technoloyg.
