Electrical Wiring in the Home - 1 switch in a 2 switch box not working

Expert: Ben - 10/28/2009

Question
I have a double switch box that controls 2 different lights.  One of the switches works just fine.  The other stopped working recently.  I have taken everything apart, looking for loose connections in the switch and at the ceiling light.  I have tried rewiring a light that I know is good, but it still doesn't work.  Can part of a switch go bad? Help...

Answer
Chris
Have you changed the switch? Switches can go bad, what you can do is remove the switch and take the 2 wires off the switch and connect them together with a wire nut and then turn the circuit back on,if the light comes on then the switch is bad if not recheck the wires for continuity from the switch to the light box with out the power on.
