Electrical Wiring in the Home - high voltage

Expert: Robert Wilber - 10/22/2009

Question
i just bought a house an the voltage at sockets shows 144 to 148 on meter, what do you thinks the cause is,all sockets work ok as for as lights,tv,

Answer
That's high.
Call the utility before you burn something up, like your TV, due to overvoltage, which will often cause overcurrent.
It could be a bad neutral if they find they have normal values. In that case, call an electrician and start talking about open neutrals.
