Question
Ben,

I recently purchased a new home.  I noticed that my well pump (AWG 10 Ground Type UF-B 600 Volt) comes in to the home through my concrete foundation wall in the basement.  There was a hole chissled in the foundation wall and the wire was shoved through the hole and foam sprayed around the wire.  Should this wire be in any type of protections as it passes through the concrete?  Once inside the home it stretches up to the rafters where it is attached to the bottom of the rafters then over to a junction box that runs the pump.  On the outside, the wire runs in the same trench along the main water service pipe all the way to the well.

Thanks,

Answer
Charles
Uf wire is made to direct burial in the ground, your installation has a hole in the concrete and then foam sprayed in the hole ,probably to keep out vermin and other creatures. This wire will be fine as it has a tougher insulation cover on it to protect it from harsh environments.
