Question I am trying to install the control box for the garage door opener. It has only two terminals for wire connections, but when I stripped the wire (house pre-wired for an opener), it has 6 small wires. A blue, blue & white, green, green & white, red, red & white. Which of these do I use to connect to the opener control box? Why do I have so many? Thank you so much for any help you can give!
Answer Every manufacturer has their own terminals for the opener connection. The wires you have found are for a three button manual switch with open, close and stop. On the opener itself, there will be two terminals to connect the remote control box to. It connects directly to the opener and unless you also install a manual switch, you will not need the house wiring. A remote usually comes with two buttons, one can be hung where the house wiring is and the other in a vehicle. If you want two remotes, you can install a mechanical switch to the house wiring. Thanks J
