Electrical Wiring in the Home/Power Backup
I am looking for a reliable power backup source to use for my sump pump when the power goes out (not necessarily specific for sump pumps). I have a generator but I would like a reasonably priced battery backup that I can quickly plug into while I set up my generator.
I can't say that I know everything about sump pumps. However, they do make sump pumps that are made to run off of batteries. They are pretty much car batteries. You can look at homedepot.com, or just Google sump pump battery backup. They cost around $400 with the battery.
Another option is to get an automatic generator with a transfer switch. Depending on how much you want to run on a generator in your house, they cost several thousand dollars. This will automatically run key circuits in your house (some lighting, refrigeration, furnace, smoke detectors, sump pump, etc.) It will automatically come on after a few seconds.
