Electrical Wiring in the Home/Same switch, different voltages

I was able to find the exact same model pull switch for the light on my ceiling fan, but the voltages/amps listed on the new one are different(perhaps better). The old one has 1A250V, 3A125V, and 3A125VT on it. The new one has 3A250VAC, 6A125VAC, and 3A125VL on it. I'm also not sure of the difference between VT and VL.

L & T Ratings

An "L" rating denotes the ability of a switch to handle the initial high inrush characteristics of a Tungsten Filament Lamp on AC voltage only. A "T" rating is the equivalent lamp load for DC.

IF the new one physically fits and operates as you need dont worry about vl or vt  you are concerned with max amps the switch would have to carry    and the new one is able to carry 3 amps on 250 volt AC where the old was 1 amp   at 125 Volts AC the new one is able to carry 6 amps versus 3

The last VT VL  is as explained above

Over all you have a lot more contact area than previously  so it should stand up much better as long as it physically fits where it needs to mount,

Good job of paying attention to detail as it could have been some sort of problem if it were for a different load type,  but this new one appears to be just fine with lots more capacity. Looks like you are fine whatever the load WAS  just use the same rated lamps, type, so on,  as it calls for

because the switch can handle more current  that is not an indication you can use MORE LOAD  as all parts of the circuit, lamp holders wiring so on would have to be upgraded to increase load or output wattage
