Question
i want to add a photo cell from the timer out power to the lite so it will go on at dusk and off at a preset time. i will set the timer on setting  well before dusk to give it power but at the needed time of darkness, to power the pool light, which will change as summer days grow longer. the question is on the photo cell the wires are ,blk, wh, red . where does the red wire go?

Answer
Hi Harry,

Most unusual that your photo-cell didn't come with a wiring  diagram...most do.

The typical wiring layout for all the photocells I've wired is:

Black power in from timer to photo-cell BLACK....black out to light to photo-cell RED...white neutrals to photo-cell WHITE.

This is the standard layout...and is the most commonly used for the majority of photo-cell connections. Your photo-cell may or may not require this same layout...please follow-up with the make and model number and I can research my catalogs for your brand...and possible find the diagram for it.

Hope this helps...please follow-up with the requested information...unless you want to try the layout I suggested  above - but please Note - it's possible your diagram may be different.

Best wishes,
