just replaced 3 wire celing fan switch because chain broke inside......... with new three wire switch installed, the fan will not turn off, it will forward and reverse properly but will not shut off.... this is an old hunter over 30 years old. I have replaced this switch before...might it be a bad switch......? any help would be greatly appreciated......... thanks John
Answer -
Hi John,
If you could tell me what color wires are hooked where and is the fan multple speed,I think we can get it running properly. It is possible that the new switch is defective, but not likely.

AnswerHi John,
I still need a little more information. I can tell you for sure that the black wire coming into the ceiling box goes onto the black wire of the switch.
Now we still have the red and 2 blues to deal with. Are the red and 2 blues coming off of the switch or are they part of the internal fan wiring? What are the colors the red and 2 blues are now connected to? Be as descriptive as you can and will get that fan turning.
