Electrical Wiring in the Home/christmas lights

Question
A string of my mini christmas lights are not working. I have a bulb tester and every bulb seems to be good. So how do I test the sockets to see where the problem might be?

Answer
Hi.

First of all, if it is a plain string, you may just want to replace it, since they are only a dollar or two.  There are also strings that cost a little more that are more dependable.  One brand is called Constant On.

There are testers that test the electrical current in the string.  It beeps when there is power.  If you follow it along the string, when it stop beeping you should have found your problem.

Also be sure that when you insert the bulbs, that the little wires that come off of the bulb are straight and sticking out on the ends (rather than the front or back.) Also be sure that the fuses are OK and the prongs of the plug are straight.  To check the fuse, plug something on the end of the set if it has an end plug.  To check the plug, try jiggling it.

I hope this helps.  Feel free to ask any follow up questions.
