Electrical Wiring in the Home - circuit breaker

Expert: Rick Miell - 1/26/2005

Question
our home is 25 years old. The circuit breaker box pops often. floor heaters, the kids party jumper, mobile air conditioner, in combination with blow dryers, all cause it to pop. Is it really too much to ask that it needs to pop like this? Can we improve the circuit breaker box itself? What can we do? thanks

Answer
Hi Randall.

The reason it is popping is that there is to much load on this one circuit.  If you can, try to move these loads onto different circuits, or add more circuits, if your service is large enough.  If it is to small, then you may need to increase the size of the service, as well as add the additional circuit.

Try to put these loads on different circuits first tho.

Good luck.
