Thanks. I got the color of the wires incorrect. They are black, red, white and the shield cable. I assume the wiring is related to the snake box that these get plugged into correct? I've been told that one of the mistakes we made early on was not wiring the shield to pin one. We only wired the shield to the ground lug and not pin 1. Some people have told us to wire a jumper from pin 1 to the ground lug. I would then assume that pin 2 gets red or black and pin 3 gets the black or red and we don't use the white wire. Is that correct? My main question is how to we make sure we are matching the snake correctly? We can pull a plug off the snack and look at it, but how do we determine what is what? I hope this makes sense.
thanks,
Jeff

Question -
I'm involved in setting up a sound system. We are hard wiring the stage for XLR inputs using three pin plugs. What is the correct wiring for this? We are using four wire cable meaning we have a red wire, a black wire, a white wire, blue wire and a shield.
thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeff!
I have just gotten back from New York, and plan to work out an answer for you later today. How you can hold out. Talk to you soon.

Answer Hey Jeff - Sorry about the wait.
Ok so your making an upgrade on the sound system! Good Deal! It sounds like your on the right track. The wiring is headed in the right direction. I would suggest... the shield - pin 1, red wire - pin 2, black wire - pin 3. Now how many channels will your snake carry? You mentioned concern about identification on the other end of the snake... at least thats what I assume you mean. Many times each channel will be marked, by number. Otherwise you will either have to get a line tester, or use a procesess of elimination at the sound board. Let me know if you still have questions. I'll be qurious to know how it works out.
