There is an after market device called the 'safe-T-sensor' that is supposed to shut the unit down on detection of smoke.  I believe the cost is around $50

Anything to do with electronics or electrical engineering; radio, computers, power, telephone, broadcast technology, ham radio, digital signal processing, logic design, house wiring, motors, wind generators, patents, etc. If you are interested in a career in electronics, I can tell you how to get into it. I welcome questions from kids who want to learn.

I have 30 years of experience as a career, I've been at it since a kid as a hobby, it's all I do in life. I am VP of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer of a $25M company. I have been president of ham radio clubs, ran a Boy Scout Explorer post in engineering, and mentor to many EEs who work under me. I'm the one who asked for the Category to be created (although it was supposed to be Electrical Engineering).

Nothing. I'm in industry not academia. We don't publish.
