Question
Dear ZZ

Is it possible to protect video images in a camcorder with a password?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
Well, it is obvious a definite yes, at least so far as the example below reveals that border crossing agents had to unlock the file passwords on equipment a traveler was taking to Mexico from the USA.

It does not say what equipment was used nor what encryption or password protection was applied but it took a forensic expert to open the files in the camera equipment.

Also, the Ricoh camera given in the previous question regarding photographic images has several levels of password protections.  Please refer to that link, also.

So, once again, from a technological viewpoint there is no problem adding password protection.  What mfg agents add this feature is open question to me.
