Question
I have a bachelor's degree in psycholgy but I would like to get my masters in elementary reading. I would like to work with children who have difficulty with reading by pulling them out of their classroom and working one on one with them. I was wondering what degree I need to do this. I really appreciate your help.

Answer
Hi!  I am frowning right now because my daughter is majoring in psychology.  I hope she is making the correct decision!
ANYWAY...you need a reading specialist certification.  You will need your Master's in that in order to teach in what you describe.  It is a Title I Federal program.  The jobs are few and far in between.  You need to find out the demand in your area before going into reading specialist.  You should find out if you can teach reading in an elementary or middle school CLASSROOM also rather than just a Title I program.  Perhaps you would be better off getting your Master's in Elementary Ed.
Best of luck! :)
