What types or styles of music did he write?how many of each if possible!!!Thanks!!!

Answer
His son Mercer was a trumpet player and composer.

From the 1920s 'til his death he had an apartment in New York but he toured the world with his orchestra until a short time before his death.

I think the most remarkable thing about the man is the fact that he toured with his orchestra for 50 weeks of the year and composed everything from pop songs to jump tunes and even tried the musical stage [Jump for Joy]Unlike a great deal of today's musicians he did not take 9 months off to write the music for an album he composed whilst touring. A lot of people myself included class him as America's greatest composer.

Style of music, easy, he wrote Ellington style. I can only advise you to listen to his recorded legacy from the 20s 'til the 70s.

The man was not only the leader of the finest big band of all time he was also a very underrated piano player a brilliant composer a great wit smooth gentleman especially with the ladies in fact he was a Genius the likes of which I don't think we will see again.
