Question what is his fathers name? What was his profession?what is the his mothers name and profession
Answer James Edward Ellington....J E as he was affectionately called started working as a coachman for Dr M F Cuthburt for some 20 years from 1897 or 1898 finally becoming the family butler even on occasion helping out at the White House.Duke's mother Daisy was the daughter of James William Kennedy a captain of police and well respected in the local black community. His mother as been described as a genteel and dignified lady, Dukes sister said she was a real Victorian lady. I do not know what Ellington's mothers'profession was. I do know that the Duke worshipped his mother and was devastated when she died in the mid 1930s.
