Question Because of the number of scammers out there, when I socialise with people I meet online, I am in the habit of using an email tracker to verify things like their actual location. I have found it to be pretty accurate. Now someone I email regularly advised me that he has been sent overseas for a couple of months. On recent emails I have sent, they are telling me that he is still at his original location, isp, etc. I am wondering if, when someone accesses the internet through their own computer if it will do so through the home isp, and make it appear that they are still in the same place?
Answer Actually these e-mail trackers are not especially accurate. Anyone sending an e-mail sends it through a SMTP server. Generally they use the SMTP server provided by their ISP or e-mail service. What you are really locating is the area where the SMTP server is, not the actual location of the sender.
