Expertise

(But if you really want to ask in that field, I will sure do try my best to answer your question nicely and correctly anyway :) ). This includes but is not limited to web based email or whatever comes to your mind.

Subject: e-mail server type

Question
I am trying to advertise on the internet. When I try to respond to the email link they ask me what my email server type for incoming and outgoing mail is. For incoming mail my choices are POP3 or IMAP. For outgoing they ask what my SMTP name is. I have MSN my email is hilaryriggs@live.com.  Please help me.

Answer
Hello Hilary!

Thanks for your question!

SMTP is the outgoing mail server. You have to get the server  data for your email client from your email provider (port numer, server name, authorization type, the user name and password you know yourself) and enter it and it will work!  - but MSN Hotmail/Live Mail doesn't support POP3 (incoming server)/SMTP or IMAP (a different method for emailing, which syncs the data between web based and local email client, not supported by many...).

You need to switch to something else instead. Sorry.

Hope this helps!
All the best!
Bye!
Joerg
