Question Hello I was wondering, if I have been promoted and with that promotion they gave me a pay raise, and then after trying it out my new job i decided that it is not for me, can they deduct that pay raise if they demote me back to my previous title? Let say I am assistant manager and they promote me to Manager and tell me test it out and then I decide to go back to assistant manager, can they take my pay raise away?
Answer Yes they can demote you. In most companies the pay raise is for the added responsibilities of the job. If you go back to the other job than you will be paid whatever the pay is for that job.
We pay per job at our company so the pay amount is for the position.
