Question I have been employed at my job for 12 years as part-time 3 days a week. Our administrator hired his daughter to go through Certified Nurse Training. She missed a whole week in class and the others were not allowed to miss a day. After she got her certificate they demoited a transport aide so his daughter could be head transport. Alot of employees got really mad because she was getting by with everything. Someone called the owner and told him what was going on. Well the administrators daughter no longer works there. Our boss which is the DON (Directors of Nursing) had an in service meeting a month ago and said that no one will be monday through friday unless you fall under the grandfather clause which is me and 4 other aides. Well now since all of this has happened with our administrators daughter our boss the don is making everyone go back to working a 4-2 schedule, which I would get 1 weekend off every six weeks. Im forced to go PRN which they will call you as needed. I havent worked a weekend in 11 years and they know I can't. Is there anything I can do about this.
Answer Christy:
You imply the change of schedule is the result of someone calling the owner about the administrator's daughter. And, that may be the reason. The problem is there is nothing illegal about the changing of work schedule.
I do not think there is anything you can do about the new schedule.
