Question Friend, good work ethics, not notified, laid off when reported for work one day. Two men walked him to car. No severence, no check given that day. Very sad to be treated like that on top of losing his job. Any law broken?
Answer There are no laws broken here, but he should be paid in the time frame that is listed in the rules of the state in which he works. If you let me know in which state I can tell you the rules for final pay upon a lay off or termination. If it is a lay off your friend should go down and sign up for unemployment insurance.
