Question
My employer's paycheck bounced causing overdraft fees.  I quit this job and now employer is withholding final wages.  She also sent me a slanderous e-mail that she stated she had sent out to clients and area salons.  What legal action should I take?

Answer
Jackie:

You should file a wage claim against the employer for the bounced check amount, plus any other pay you still have coming.  You can go to your state's web site and look under employment for info on how to file the claim.

Regarding the e-mail, you have to have proof she sent it to other people, plus the content must indeed be slanderous.  Your best bet there is to see an attorney who can review it and advise if he believes you have a cause of action.
