Employment Law/suspension from work w/o reason

Is it legal in NYS to be suspended without being given the reason why?  Suspension is for a few days...

Debra - Unless you have a written employment agreement or a union contract, you can be suspended for any reason at all, or terminated similarly.  People in the US are overwhelmingly "at will" employees, which means they can be fired, disciplined, or suspended for any or no reason, as long as the action is not taken for a discriminatory reason, such as your race, gender, age, etc.

I can answer most questions about employment law, federal or state. I am an attorney, not an HR professional, so questions about HR careers, coursework, prospects, etc. are not within my scope.
