Employment Law/Can I get fired for this

My friend called off work an put me in her place when I don't go into work for another hour can I legaly get fired for not agreeing to this shift without my knowledge

Jon - Unless you have a written employment agreement or are in a union with rules about the grounds for termination, you can be fired for almost any reason that your employer thinks is good enough.  That's not much of a friend, however.  If your employer is reasonable, explaining it might work to get you off the hook, but employers are under no obligation to be reasonable.

I can answer most questions about employment law, federal or state. I am an attorney, not an HR professional, so questions about HR careers, coursework, prospects, etc. are not within my scope.
