Question
IF THE COMPANY I WORK FOR HAS A POLICY THAT AS A DRIVER IF WE HAVE TO GO OFF ROUTE FOR ANY REASON WE NEED TO CALL DISPATCH.IF ITS THE COMPANYS POLICY FOR US TO CALL WELL ISN'T THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE US DRIVERS THE PROPER TOOLS IN ORDER TO PERFORM AND MEET COMPANY POLICY AS A DRIVER .I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO USE MY PERSONAL CELL PHONE TO CONDUCT WORK RELATED CALLS & EXPECT ME TO PAY FOR THEM.IF I'M GOING TO BE HELD TO COMPANY POLICY THEN PROVIDE ME WITH A COMPANY PHONE ... I WAS TERMINATED CAUSE I DIDN'T CALL . MY PERSONAL CELL PHONE WAS OUT OF SERVICE .WILL THIS UP HOLD AS A POSSIBLE WRONGFUL TERMINATION CASE ? THE COMPANY MENTIONS NOTHING ABOUT DRIVERS HAVING TO USE THEIR OWN PHONES.

Answer
Curtis - A wrongful termination case has to involve a company violating a law regarding employees.  Your company did not violate any law, so you have no case.  Employers are free to make work rules to suit their business needs.  Fair or unfair, they can expect their employees to follow the rules, and they can terminate an employee if he/she does not.
