Employment Law/can my employer fire me over a grudge?

Question
This is a strange one. The cfo of my company has started threatening me to give him money. He is demanding that I pay him money for something that is definitely NOT work-related.  the way he worded the texts I received from him made it sound as if he intended on firing me if I don't comply. I filed a complaint with HR and printed copies of the texts. Unfortunately HR works for him so I don't really trust our HR lady. If he does fire me (without grounds), would I have a case to pursue legal compensation from the company?

Answer

My Answer:
"The cfo of my company has started threatening me to give him money. He is demanding that I pay him money for something that is definitely NOT work-related" without any details implies something of a potentially unethical or criminal nature.

That said, using any texts and documentation gathered I would...

1) Seek qualified employment rights legal counsel to learn exactly what my legal options were
2) With the assistance of counsel prepare a complaint with my states Human rights Commission or equivalent agency dealing with employment violations.

I hope that helps,
